It’s the last day of 2016 today and as usual I can’t believe how quick this year has gone. It is just me or does every year seem to be going by even quicker than the last?
I was meaning to write a little Christmas blog post but December seemed to whizz by in the blink of an eye, so I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I love New Year, not to make resolutions that I won’t keep or promise myself that I won’t eat quite as much chocolate but because I find it really exciting. So much has changed in 2016 and it’s fascinating to think what another 365 days bring.
I thought now would be the perfect chance to take a look back at the past year and reflect on what a truly great year it has been. Below is a selection of photos from each month that hold a special memory.
Apologies in advance if it is quite a long post!
January started with a little trip away to Devon, we stayed at the Salcombe Harbour Spa for a couple of nights and it was utterly dreamy! Big fluffy dressing gowns, gorgeous spa and gorgeous food! I love the South coast in the summer but it was great to go in January and wrap up warm for long walks across the beach, it definitely blew the cobwebs away!
Liam booked us a trip to Dublin as part of my Christmas present and we had hands down one of the best weekends away we’ve ever had! We had both been previously when we were much younger so couldn’t remember too much, we loved it that much we went back again later in the year! The cold weather we had also made for some gorgeous drives to work in the morning! Who can resist stopping to take the odd picture when it looks so pretty?!
A last minute flight booking meant we were off to Oslo for the weekend with a few friends, we had never been to Norway before but found some cheap flights and jumped at the opportunity to discover somewhere new. Whilst being extremely cheap to get there it was quite the opposite whilst we were there! It was a great city to walk and explore and we had a great time, I would definitely like to go back and visit more of Norway. The end of March also saw some sunny days which meant we were able to get out for a few lovely days out.
More blue skies and sunshines throughout April so lots of weekend walks and enjoying the evening sunshine we were beginning to get. It was also a busy time work wise and this song lyric print was proving to be very popular!
May saw our first camping trip of the year and a few lovely days out. Summer is my favourite time of the year and I really try and make the most of it. I love the long days, beer gardens and barbecues that summer brings!
In June we managed to get away for the weekend to my favourite place, Polzeath in Cornwall. We try and get there every year and always have such a lovely time. One day I would love to think I would live down on the Cornish coast….
In July we went off on a family holiday to Chania in Crete. We have been to Crete a few times before but never to this side of the island. The old town was absolutely gorgeous and I could have spent hours wandering the little cobbled streets, just not in the 35 degree heat!
We spent two weeks in Crete so our holiday crossed into August, we also celebrated my birthday whilst we were away. Who could ask for a better place to be on their birthday?! Once we were home we took part in Tough Mudder, we’ve done this event for the past few years and always have such a great time. The camaraderie and atmosphere of everyone involved really makes it a great event to take part in! We also spent the August bank holiday on the Jurassic Coast and were extremely lucky with some gorgeous weather to finish the summer off.
September was a relatively quiet month catching up on work and I seemed to hardly take any pictures! The addition of some late sunshine meant more lovely long walks on the weekends.
In October I finally got round to completing my website, I had been working on it for a few months but it always took a backseat when I got busy with other projects! I am hoping to update it even more in the New Year but for now I’m really happy with how it looks.
Liams birthday is in November so we decided to go back to Dublin with some friends to celebrate, we had another great weekend and I’m sure we will be back very soon! November was an extremely busy month work wise and I got my new range of greetings cards stocked in my first shop! This was an extremely exciting moment and I’m looking forward to seeing where else this can go in 2017.
December was probably my busiest month of the year, and possibly of my life! Christmas meant I was sending out orders left right and centre! I am SO thankful to each and every person who has placed an order with me throughout the year so a huge thank you! Christmas was thankfully a bit of chill time with my family going for winter walks, playing silly games (speak out is THE funniest game I have ever played), and of course, eating far too much chocolate and cheese!
To anyone who has managed to read this far, thank you and sorry for the waffle! I’ve found it really hard to pick out my favourite memories but I’ve really enjoyed collecting my favourite Instagram pics and looking back at all the incredible memories I’ve made!
2016 will be very hard to beat but I’m going to do my best to top it!
I hope you all have a magical New Year whatever you are up to!
